I am lookling for a plug-in that would allow (or more) digital photos to be added (imported) together to for the purpose of increasing the resolution. I know that this is being done inside of some cameras so it seems like it is really a software issue. This is not the same as adding a second layer to a Photoshop image since the resolution is not effected.
For example, adding two 3 megapixel images of a photograph shot with a tri-pod should create a 6 megapixel resolution image. Obviously if the camera moves between exposures the image becomes blury. If the camera were to be dead nuts perfect the two files would be identical, but in my case this is unlikely.
Thanks
Plug-in to add two digital photos together to for additional

I don't know of any camera that uses two photos to increase resolution. If you let me know the name of the camera, I'd be highly interested.
I came across a tool that combined two images to increase resolution, but unfortunately I forgot where I saw it and don't remember its name.
Combining two almost identical images to increase resolution doesn't sound to me as if the combined image would have the double resolution. Noise can be reduced that way, but I can't imagine that the resolution increase would be that dramatic.

Increasing file size
I believe what you seek is called panoramic stitching software, there are several proframs discussed at panoguide.com. I have a freedown load that I am currently playing with called PanEdit Lite, I got it from a site that IBM has, they developed it.
Good luck,

Panoramas
After I wrote the above reply, I noticed that Harold had a link in his current newsletter for a prog. called hugin that does the same, they are here: http://hugin.sourceforge.net/
Good luck,

Interpolation is only an option for increasding resolution if there is no other possibility. Interpolation only invents additional image data, but doesn't really increase resolution in the strict sense of the word.
Real resolution increase is only possible by using a camera with more MPs (not interpolated MPs like Fuji does) or by stitching together several photos of different parts of the same scene.
