I want to remove all the extra stuff from my edge so I can apply depth strokes etc to the edge that is transparent on my picture so what I have is picture with cool edge I know I can magic wand it but that takes too long there has to be an easy way

You could create a selection and then e.g. use the Contract command to make the selection smaller by certain number of pixels. Not sure if that is what you mean.
