MetaRaw for Mac

Post by jknights »

I use Mac and would definitely purchase a copy of MetaRAW if it worked on my Mac.

Is there any possibility of this happening in the near future?

Thanks Harald.
I look forward to seeing something soon ;-)
I am sure that you will get a lot of purchasers of the Mac and Windows version especially with the current debacle with Adobe CC.

Sorry, it looks as if there is no big interest in MetaRaw for Mac. Developing it would mean costs that would very likely not be compensated by enough sales.

I think that you underestimate the market. There are many customers of Adobe who dont want to upgrade to CC. I am one of at least 30-40 photographers who would do this.

Do you have a rough cost for making the Mac version. Time or real cost. There are crowd-funding options or even partnership with another person with relevant experience.
You say a cost and I will try to help with funding or resourcing for you.
:D

If you want we can discuss in Spain. I will take you to do a flamenco shoot at my local club near Valencia.
Working holiday!

ElementsXXL for Mac, whose Windows versions sells better than the Windows version of MetaRaw, sold unexpectedly low. Over time it will probably pay back the invested time and money, but it also means that MetaRaw for Mac may not be worth the investment.

The cost would either be my own time if I would do it myself. But I can earn more if I invest my time in a Windows product. The second alternative would be to let it do by someone else. That would mean having to pay for development costs. Additionally I would also have to invest time to test and update it, which is not included in these costs.

I will give it some thought. So far all Mac products paid for their costs. Crowd funding also sounds like something worth a try.

Thanks for your nice flamenco shot. I used to take such shots myself several years ago, but only recorded videos of flamenco events lately. Thanks for your invitation! Would certainly be fun, but my son has to grow a bit older for trips to Spain.

Actually short after my previous reply I gave our external Mac developer the task to create a Mac version of MetaRaw. It proceeded faster than I thought and costs were also much lower than expected.

I still need to do several fixes and adjustments myself and also do a lot of testing with various Photoshop/Elements and MacOS versions. But it looks as if it will be released next month.

There were problems with making it work with PS CS3, CS4 and PSE 8. But that works now. Still not working in CC 2015.5 and CC 2017, but I guess I will release it without support for these two latest Photoshop versions and add that later.

I will get back to you within 24 hours by email.
