Making Photoshop Elements startup faster

Post by HaraldHeim »

I was always annoyed that Photoshop Elements was busy for several seconds after its main window showed up. Especially Photoshop Elements 10 seemed to take even longer. Now I found out that Photoshop Elements connects to the internet (to static.photoshop.com) during this time. If you make your firewall block it, Photoshop Elements even gets unresponsive for several minutes.

According to the Adobe Forums (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1286200/), you can use Notepad to add the line

127.0.0.1 static.photoshop.com

to the hosts file at c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts\ to fix this problem. If your security software should block it, you have to deactivate it temporarily.

As a result Photoshop Elements can be used immediately at startup, which is a big relief.
