Why don't 8bf plug-ins work with CS3

Post by Don »

I have a free plug-in that was created with FilterFactory.
It worked untill I had to reload all of my software onto a newer computer.

I Upgraded to Windows 7 64 Bit and Photoshop CS 3. Now some of my other
8bf files also no longer work. The free one that I'm referencing is very short
and not complicated. These files cause Photoshop to lock up and I have to reload it.

However any form of programming escapes me and I would like to know if
Filter Factory made 8bf files are no longer usable? They also lock up Plug in Commander
Pro and the same thing happens (clicking on the error message drops off
the program).

Is there any one who can evaluate this filter to see what is wrong with it?
The author (Catlin) no longer has the same email address.

Additional information:
I tried the Filter Factory plug-in and it comes up with no error code.
The Filter Foundry plug-stops working same , that is error pops-up saying
Windows has encountered a problem. When clicking on the error message
Photoshop CS3 shuts down.

You need to deactivate Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for all programs or for Photoshop CS3 and Plugin Commander only. This will stop the crashes.

See here for detailed instructions:

To make FilterFactory plugins work even if DEP is active, you need to recompile them with a newer version of FilterMeister (http://www.filtermeister.com) or at least run them from FilterMeister.
