Need Color Selection that is more precise

Post by Don »

In almost all of the plug-ins for Photoshop, there is not enough precision in color selection.
For instance: Selecting a red dress to change to blue, skin tones and pink flowers,
In the pictures, also changed are some sky colors .

Selecting, color, luminance, contrast denisty for a specific selection might allow a narrower selection of colors. Of course you could do masking but it would not be as simple.
De-selecting the pinks etc., would provide a less broad selection of colors.

Multiple deslections would allow more narrower of a color selection. :D

Almost all Photoshop plugins either use the color dialog of Photoshop (or the host application) or the operating color dialog. These color dialogs are usually fine for selecting only one color.

What you want to do is to replace a color with another. This is only done by special plugins. In some cases these plugins provide other means, e.g. sliders, for specifying a certain color range.

I have several old plug-ins that are supposed to do this but even the sample
of changing a red dress to blue using Plug-in Site software does not do this.

Choosing the red dress of my Great Granddaughter, using this software did not
prevent pink flowers also changing. In addition pink portions of ther face were
changed to blue.

As none of these that I have, provide sliders that delineate light from dark or tonal ranges,
Can you provide me with the name of which software's you are referring to? :o

You mean you used LightMachine? You could also try ColorStyler.

Which other plugins did you try and failed?

At the moment I cannot think of a special plugin to recommend.

Sorry you didn't have any other recommendations.

Yes, I tried both (I always use Plugin Site software, I have them all.) as they are the most intuitive and easier to use than most others. In addition they usually do a better job. On One, Genuine Fractals and almost all other commercial software plug-ins for Photo Shop are in my possession but I mainly use Genuine Fractals and Nik Define.

I mainly retouch old photos or enlarge them and am not an artist by any means.

I'm contemplating your version of noise reduction but as a disabled vet it will be a while
before I can purchase it.

Yes. On both-the problem is some of the pictures sent to me, of my great-grandchildren and grand children have to many variations that are similar to the choices that I have picked. Often not just wanting to change from (example not from red to blue) but to a more vibrant Red on just their dresses without effecting the Roses, bricks and other similar colored items near bye.

However, masking has become very difficult as my Parkinson's Disease is becoming more pronounced and my Diabetic retinopathy makes it difficult to choose the smaller details while trying to do masking.

Thanks for your answer,
