It's not JASC PaintShop Pro

Post by Grenou »

Not since 2004!
Corel bought it (some money and shares were exchanged).
It's now known as Corel PaintShop Pro.
You are 11 years out of date.

Latest available version is X7 and doing a good job.

A shame it isn't mentioned in the headlines on the Plugin site newsletter.
There ARE other image editors apart from Adobe's offerings..

Thanks for pointing me to the wrong forum sub title. I changed it now.

Paint Shop Pro was and is mentioned often in the Plugin Newsletter. Mentioning it in every issue at the top would be more like advertising than normal coverage.

Danke Harald :-)

But I disagree, whenever I read about image editing on your site, it mostly seems to be about Adobe products.. is that not advertising?

I test for Corel PSP and maybe that makes me notice the word Adobe more.. yes, I know, I am biased :-)

We are currently mainly developing products for Adobe Photoshop Elements. So it is kind of hard to avoid the term "Adobe" :-)

In the 1990s Jasc PSP was big competition for Photoshop, but sometime around 2001 or 2002 Photoshop overtook PSP regarding features. Even after Corel took over they did not hurry to make PSP more competitive. Surely, PSP can now compete with Photoshop better than 10-15 years ago, but in the meantime many users switched to Photoshop and will not come back.

On the other hand the polls on this site showed that quite a lot of people use PSP as well as Photoshop.

We now have Corel Paintshop Pro X8 32/64bit versions and work wonderfully. It's definately on a parr with PS in my opinion. Most, if not all PS filters will work with PSPX8 32bit version. If the plugins are 64bit like Topaz and others, you can use them in the 64bit version.

The one good thing going for PSP is price. It's easy on the pocket, unlike PS.
