Photoshop CS2 & 3

Post by Allen-H »

Is it possible to have CS2 and CS3 installed on the same computer. Would like to know before getting CS 3 What pitfalls I might encounter. My O/S is Windows XP Home edition. Thanks in advance

Each Photoshop install uses a separate folder in both Program Files and Documents and Settings (all under Adobe), so it is safe to have different versions installed.

yes it'll work. I have version 7, CS2 and CS3 as well as elements 3,4 and 6 on My Notebook. However, the brush engine changed somewhat and many brush .ABR's might not work within version CS3. Same applies to Elements. You'll get a prompt in Photoshop. Make sure you choose a scratch disk.

Also, just a quick note. When installing plugins, create a separate folder to install them into INSTEAD of each version's plugin folder. Then create the shortcut in Photoshop pointing to that folder. This way each version can use the plugins.
