Reset, Undo & Presets

Using the Reset Button

If you want to undo the current correction settings, you can click on the Reset button. This is helpful if you want to undo an adjustment or when you start with a new image. Additionally the sample area marquee disappears and the whole preview area is sampled again. The behavior of the Reset button can be defined by the On Reset combo box on the Prefs tab sheet. Right clicking on the Reset button will display a context menu with various options. The options correspond to the options of the On Reset combo box of the Prefs tab: "Previous Settings" loads the settings that were used for correcting the previous image. "Default Settings" resets all controls to their default values. Finally, "Logged Settings" will open a preset that was automatically saved when you corrected the same image the last time. If FocalBlade can't find such settings or if the host application does not support this feature, nothing will happen.

Arrow-Down Menu

If you click on the small arrow-down icon at the left of the Mode combo box, a menu will be displayed. This menu includes options for opening and saving presets, an Undo command and a list of all presets from the Preset sub folder of the FocalBlade folder.

Open Preset

The Open Preset button lets you open files with the .fbp file extension that were previously saved with the Save Preset button in FocalBlade. FocalBlade already includes several presets that can be used as a starting point for creating various effects. If you click on the Open Preset button, a file dialog displaying the files of the Presets sub folder will appear and let you select a preset file.

Save Preset

You can save a preset, which means all current control settings, by clicking on the Save Preset button. Please save presets into the Presets sub folder within the FocalBlade folder which is displayed by default in the file dialog. The saved preset can later be opened with the Open Preset button or from the top of the arrow-down menu in order to apply the same effect on another photo.

Undo

Undo restores the previous control settings in case you didn't like your latest adjustment. Undo only works one step backwards and doesn't restore the preview zoom setting.

Preset List

At the bottom of the menu is a list of all FocalBlade presets from the Presets sub folder of FocalBlade. If you choose one of them, it is immediately applied and changes all settings.

Preset Naming Conventions

When saving a preset, please use the following naming conventions:

• When saving a preset for sharpening, start the name with "Sharpen - ".
• When saving a preset for producing a blur or soft focus effect, start the preset name with "Blur - ".
• When saving a preset for producing a glow effect, start the preset name with "Glow - "

The rest of the name should consist of one or two descriptive words. Here are some examples of suitable preset names:
