Hi everyone,

Many thanks for all the nice and encouraging emails I got after the
latest newsletter. Sorry, that I didn't reply to all as I don't have the
time.

I came across a poll on the favourite bitmap editor at eye.box.sk whose
results were similar to my poll. The results of over 5000 votes were:

1. Photoshop (59%)
2. Paintshop Pro (22%)
3. Corel Photo-Paint (9%)

One reason why Photoshop received almost three times more votes than PSP
may be that Photoshop is available on various platforms while PSP is
Windows only. The site where this poll was conducted seems to have less
Windows users than my web site.

I stopped the recent poll on the favourite web site for freeware plugin
software, because as I expected Plugin Com HQ got over 50% of all votes.
So this poll wouldn't have any real value. Two other sites that did
quite good were

I started a new poll with the question "Which is your favourite image
viewer?". 30 image viewers are taking part in this poll, so yours should

Please don't post this poll to a place whose users are in favor a
certain image viewer to keep this poll representative. Thanks.

If you know a good question for a new poll or want to know people's
opinion on a graphical topic, please email me and I'd be glad to do such

NEW TEXTURES PAGE

The Other Effects section contains a new pages called Textures. It hosts
15 colored and b/w seamless textures that I recently created. You can
use these textures in different application for achieving various
effects.
Additionally you will find links to hundreds of textures on this page.

NEW FREE PLUGINS

The guy who released the Redprince Flips 'n' Rolls plugins has some new
plugins up. The Noise Generator plugin creates a noise effect and the
Whitewash plugin makes white colors transparent. The Pixie Dust
collection consists of 19 plugins (only some of them have a dialog) that
create various simple contrast, brightness, monochrome and solarisation
effects.

LATEST METACREATIONS NEWS

If you didn't already heard about it: Metacreations sold Painter, Bryce
and KPT to Corel who promised to maintain and develop new versions of
these tools. On the other hand Carrara and Poser were acquired by Adobe.
So it seems that these fine products will have a good future.
