Font Management software

HELP! As a true font junkie, I have sooo many. It's cumbersome to delete and add manually from the Windows Font folder. I know there are softwares out there to do the job (used to use Suitcase on the Mac), but for Windows I have no idea?

Ideally, I'd like something that catalogs my fonts, alphabetizing when I had new ones, and capable of loading/unloading from the Win Fonts filter as needed. Is there such an animal, and is it possible to get a demo, or at least a solid recommendation? I would prefer freeware or shareware, but reasonably priced. I certainly don't want a program pushing at thd $100 mark for this sort of thing.

Not sure this is in the right topic, but I've searched and couldn't find any other place to put it...

Another font management tool with fewer options, but easier to use, is The Font Thing (for Windows). It is totally freeware and also lets you browse installed and uninstalled fonts as well as install and uninstall them. Additionally it lets you group fonts into collections for easier management, use multiple font windows simultaneously for easy font comparison.

Wow, I can tell from reading my previous post that I'd been up for 36 hours straight! Bad grammar and spelling!

Thanks so much for the two recommendations. I'll certainly check them out. In just briefly looking at The Font Thing, it appears to be very old. Latest version is a beta dated December 1999? I'm on Windows XP Pro on this system, so I am wondering how compatible this will be... It seems to promise a lot, especially for a freeware program.

The X-Fonter looks like it offers some extras I'd not particularly use, though I like that it offers to manage ALL font types and not just True Type, so I think it might be a better fit for me. I switch back and forth between Windows and Mac, and use more than just True Type fonts.

This is a program I use to organize all of my TrueType Font files:

FontRenamer

FontRenamer renames truetype font files (*.ttf) to the real name of the typefaces. Simply select a folder of font files and click the Rename button.

Arial Bold Italic.ttf instead of arialbi.ttf
Brush Script.ttf instead of brushscn.ttf

And of course, FontRenamer is Freeware.

AMP Font Viewer is pretty good. You can view installed and non installed fonts which is great if you have huge archives of fonts.
