New freeware plugin

Hi folks, as a small gift to the coming holidays, I present new freeware plugin to the community: http://photoshop.msk.ru/aspt/ Plugin allows extracting tone maps from existing toned black and white masterpieces and applying them to new images. It is supposed to be easier than tweaking "Curves" for ...

I worked with Photoshop every day, several hours, many years now; that's why I sort of know most shortcuts, modifyers, and hidden stuff. I simply don't have equivalent experience with GIMP, so, sorry, I can't answer your question.

Glad to hear it helped. In fact, I suppose for this plan to work better, detector temperature during taking "blind" (that is, "noise") shot should be equal to that during taking the photo. I'm also not so sure if interpolation or some "smart" feature in camera may came to play and spoil things, beca...

Photoshop is number 1 of software, when it comes to most useful features being placed in the least expectable places :-)

I described you the sequence of menu items you should click to go to "Apply Image" function. In the dialog here, you'll see the option to choose one of currently open images (remember that both of the photo and "noise" images should be open at a time) as "source", the "target" being set to currently...

Not a plugin but possible solution: at the same conditions, take a shot with your lense closed by cap. It will give you the image containing nothing but hot pixels and heat signal. Now with Image - Apply Image use this new image to "Subtract" it from photo.

Hope this helps.

With Photoshop "Measure" tool (it looks like ruler) draw the line along the line in the image that you want to become, say, horizontal. Then go to Image - Rotate Canvas - Arbitrary and press "Ok".

Hope that's what you mean by "straightening"/

plugin.dll is part of Photoshop and is installed with it, so I wonder how could you get Photoshop installed without this file. Anyway, reinstalling Photoshop will bring it back.

Hm, this is nothing but my personal opinion but... what as to palette reducing, existing apps seem to be good; what as to manipulating chunks, I can use freeware TwekPNG, and what as to compression, I doubt anything may beat pngcrush -b (which, apparently, I can run in batch). So I'm interested: wha...

You can fix it by dublicating the image on a new layer, adding a layer mask, drawing a gradient on the layer mask with the gradient tool and the adjusting the brightness of the new layer with the Levels tool. Frankly, that's the rare case I'd disagree with you, at least to some degree :-) Unwanted ...
